Our Purpose

Purpose is at the heart of everything we do. With money raised from the coffee you (our customers) are buying, we’ve been able to support a number of projects across the UK. As a social enterprise, our funds have been used to invest in initiatives that change the lives of hundreds of people, supporting them when they’re in their most in need.

By working with the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH), we have been able to contribute funds towards a number of projects, including:

‘The Changing Room’ - A programme designed to support men between the age of 30 and 64. It has one goal – to promote men’s mental health and wellbeing through the power of the beautiful game. It has been running at Hibernian and Hearts Football Clubs since 2017, and has received further funding to allow it to scale up across the country.

‘ALBA (Active Living Becomes Achievable)’ - A programme supporting adults who have a  mental health problem to increase their levels of physical activity, mental health and wellbeing.

‘See Me’ - Scotland’s programme to tackle mental health and discrimination. Addressing the barriers which stigma and discrimination create is central to any action to improve mental health. Doing so creates the best conditions for mental wellbeing, preventative action and early intervention, for personalised support, care and treatment and for recovery.

Wellbeans is committed to provoking systemic change in mental health support in order to ensure that no one suffers alone. We only partner with charities and businesses that are 100% committed to improving the wellbeing of others around them and are creating a like minded community of individuals and businesses who are devoted to this cause.

A note from the founder, Michael

After having experienced my own personal issues with mental health, I founded Wellbeans due to my passion for promoting positive, healthy living and supporting those who may be experiencing issues with mental health – be it personally, with a member of their family or their friends/colleagues.

I came up with the initial concept one morning when I was enjoying another passion of mine, a great tasting cup of coffee! It struck me that I could use a simple brew to promote mental health awareness and help others. After all, everyone loves a good coffee right?
